Barnes Jewellers was established in 1964 by Neville Barnes and his wife Robin. Neville was a watchmaker and the store offered a large range of jewellery, giftware, watches & clocks, along with jewellery, watch and clock repairs. Neville's son Allen joined the business in 1977 and in 1998 Allen and his wife Robyn purchased and renamed the business Allen Barnes Jewellers. Today the store still provides the core values of friendly helpful service and competitive pricing but now offers an expanded range of diamond & fine jewellery including engagement, wedding rings & dress rings, together with a comprehensive range of jewellery services, such as custom design & remakes, valuation, engraving, ring inspection & service, cleaning & repairs. The store also offers a watch battery & watch band service. The store is a member of the Australian Jeweller’s Association and is also a member of the Leading Edge Group which is Australia’s largest buying group for independently owned and operated businesses
